Modern Era

The 19th century saw a few more fonts being introduced and as industrialization and automation grew, graphic illustrations were also added. More and more books were getting printed.

The advent of computers and editing applications brought about a big change in the way typography was viewed. Whatever was in analog form now transformed in to digital. The introduction of bitmap and small colored dots known as pixels transformed the typography and printing world. Though in the initial days a large amount of memory was needed, the next generation of scalable outline fonts made thing simpler and requires lesser memory.

Now one can use as many different fonts on a single page as they need and various art forms can also be added, some can even provide a 3D view.

Thus typography has really seen a major evolution and the books that are getting printed today are of the highest quality and can also be easily replicated and manufactured in thousands quite easily.
